Exporting Data - Spatial Manager

Good morning,

I've just been asked to supply a network shape file to a colleague with fields that are supplied when I run the export. My question is, can I select what fields are selected (as the ones I provide to colleague might not be neccesarily need on a month to month basis) in the export within Spatial Manager or is this something that you have to change your end?

The extra fields include road type, footway hierarchy, adoption status et al.

Thank you for any feedback

  • You can select what fields appear in the export. After you login to Exor using Spatial Manager follow these steps:

    1. Choose a layer that needs to be displayed in ‘Exor Groups’ tab
    2. In ‘Display’ tab right-click on the layer you selected and choose ‘Properties’
    3. Go to ‘Fields’ tab. That is where fields can be selected/de-selected (see screenshot below).

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi Kristijonas,

Thank you for the information. However all the fields are those that are already extracted in the export. Is there a way of adding fields? I can’t see any option to add new fields. The fields I want to add are within the ‘datum elements’ but not when I click in the ‘identify’.

    Thanks

  • I think one of my colleagues (Mark Davies) may have chased you up on this query, as I see an email message that was wrote on 12th December that stated that Bentley had made some changes.

Unfortunately Mark is unwell at the moment so I can’t see what has been done.

Basically a colleague wants the Highway Register file showing the ‘Road Type’ field (the one under ‘Road Hierarchy’ in the ‘Datum Elements’ table.

Now as you can see from below there are 3 ‘network joins’ in the layer and I can only select from one. The one I can select does not have the ‘Road Type’ to select in the fields (Layer properties).

Now I’m not sure if Bentley have made an update and I’m unable to select the updated ‘network join’ or whether this field is still not a selectable field?

    I hope you can help.

    Thanks
    Martin
  • Hi Martin,

Do you have a SR number for the correspondence of December 12th that you mentioned above? Please let me know if you do.

I made a guide which explains how to add a field to Spatial Manager export. The table (to be more precise – it’s actually a view) you are after could be V_NM_L_NT but you need to double-check that as there are many other tables and views that have this column. Please find the guide here and let me know if that answers your question.

  • Hi Kristijonas,

No, unfortunately that comment was just mentioned in an email and the email wasn't to me initially so I don't know how Mark got this information.

    Thanks for the guide.

Unfortunately I haven't got very far. I'm just populating the information to see whether the 'test connection' works. What server information do I have to enter? Is this Bentley's server information?

    Thanks
    Martin
  • Hi Martin,

You need to leave Server and Database fields empty. Just enter “sde:oracle11g” in Service field as well as username and password (in a format described in the guide).

  • Hi Kristijonas,

You wrote the below message on the 7th December.

Unfortunately it is not possible to add additional fields via Spatial Manager to appear in the export. This can be achieved by creating static layer with the help of the data exported directly form the database but you would need to book the Professional Services team (paid service) in order to achieve that. (7 Dec. 2016)

Could you let me know approximately how much this would cost?

I've just attemped to go through the instructions again and the system is hanging at the stage where I click on 'Click to Oracle_Test', so this looks like being an impossible task from this end.

    Thanks
    Martin
