Symbols in AWLRS are first created in Map Builder. AWLRS will read this symbol definitions and translate them into Mapserver symbols which are then rendered into the AWLRS map. For more details on how to use Map Builder please refer to AWLRS Administration Guide
To create directional arrows for linear layers follow the step below:
Start Map Builder and first create the arrow as a marker symbol. In the example below, we created a new 'M.NEW_MARKER_STYLE'. (where 'M' stands for 'Marker') You can define any name you want.
Now, create a new line symbol - in this example 'L.SEGMENTS' (where 'L' stands for 'LINE')
Click on the [Arrow] checkbox and select the Arrow marker symbol you created in the previous step
By selecting the [Multiple marked] checkbox you can define where the arrows will appear along the line
Now you can select the new Line Symbol you created as the symbol for your linear layer:
Select the Layer you want to symbolize with the new symbol from the tree view (e.g. SEGMENTS), select [Styling Rules] and click on the [Edit] button as highlighted below with a red rectangle
In the "Edit Styling Rule" dialog, click on the [Edit] button and select the Linear symbol you just created (e.g. L.SEGMENTS)
Click on OK to close all windows. Re-run AWLRS and you layer should now be displayed with the directional arrows as defined.
