We run module MAi3830 "Works Order File Extract" at 5pm every evening using a scheduled task. The file numbering sequence had been advancing nicely up until Tuesday afternoon when the last number used was 3269.Unfortunately I had a senior moment on Wednesday when starting to load a COMPLETION file (WC7607) put on to the FTP server byour contractors on Tuesday night. For some reason instead of using MAI3850 – Completion file preloader, I inadvertently did a manual works order extract whereby I entered the serial number of 7607, which generated a Works Order file WO7607, which as it happened was empty because there had been no further Works Instructions since the scheduled extract from 5pm the previous day (WO3269). The manually generated WO7607 seems to have reset the file numbering sequence, because the scheduled WO extract at 5pm on Wednesday generated a file numbered as WO7608. Logically I thought that by doing another manual Works Order extract yesterday using the sequence number 3270, the scheduled 5pm task would have picked up from that last number and output a file numbered 3271. Unfortunately it has carried on using the higher number series. Is it possible to restore the original numbering sequence starting from WO3273?
Looking at the code it looks like the number is written to a table and when not provided uses the max (number) +1 to find the next number in the sequence, so when provided as long as it has not been used before that number will be used, then when not provided checks for the max then adds 1....so as you say continues with your new numbering. To revert we would have to delete entries out of tables and more ...also you may have sent the files and they may have been processed and it maybe too difficult to change. Personally I would live with the jump as it is just a number and be careful next time you use.
