Solution:
When downloading a large amount of files, a message should appear to say it's going to take a while. If that happens the download is not going to start automatically. To obtain the download:
Step 1: Click the person icon on the top right of the menu in the blue bar at the top. Select pending tasks.
Step 2: Find the download in the list of pending tasks - it'll probably be at the top or near it. Keep using Actions / Refresh until it shows as complete. If there is an error message against the pending task record starting 'Could not find a part of the path', check the names of the documents being downloaded. If any of them end in a space or a full stop, you will need to remove the space or full stop from the end of the name before it will download as part of a bulk download. The file will probably still download by itself with no problems.
Step 3: Click the person icon on the top right of the menu in the blue bar at the top again but this time select All downloads.
Step 4: Identify the download by the date - it usually orders so the latest is at the top. Click the filename of the file you want to download.
Step 5: The file will be downloaded to your usual download location.
