How to close a type of asset

(8746 False)
  Product(s): Exor Asset Manager
  Version(s): 04.04.00.00
  Environment: N/A
  Area: Asset Metamodel
  Subarea: N/A

End date all assets and close the type on the metamodel form so no new assets of that type can be created.

Background

The asset type is no longer valid and no new assets of this type will be created.  The assets and asset type will be accessible when setting the effective date back.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Review all Merge Queries and delete the asset type from each merge query in which it is referenced.  It is important that this step be performed before closing the asset items.  Not performing this step will prevent you from closing the asset type and you will not be able to perform this step after the asset items have been closed.
  2. Use the Delete Global Assets form to close all assets regardless of location which are of the type being closed.  Be sure to select all XSP types and move only the asset type being closed to the CLOSE area of the screen.  Deleting assets is possible - no history will be maintained when deleting. NOTE:  Contact Bentley Support if the asset type being closed is hierarchical.

  3. Query the asset type being closed on the Asset Metamodel form.
  4. On the asset meta model form:
  1. delete (use the red x on the menu bar) each of the roles on the Roles tab
  2. enter the end date (the same date or more recent than the Delete Global Assets step)  for SEGM on the Network tab
  3. if the asset type had any attributes you would need to end date each attribute.  Use the same date or a more recent date than the Delete Global Assets step.
  4. save the changes
  5. enter the end date on the Type tab.  Again, use the same date or a more recent date than the Delete Global Assets step.
  6. save the changes
  •  To confirm, set the effective date back and query assets of the type just closed on the Asset Items form.
