A utility has served a minor notice for works. They were then granted an extension taking the works duration to five days. The utility then overran and the application has automatically generated a charge at the standard rate, not the minor rate.
TMA Manager will generate a section 74 charge based on the implied works category, not the category initially declared by the promoter when they first raised the works.
In the example above the utility originally declared the works category to be Minor as they only planned to work up to 4 days. However a duration extension was applied for and granted, making the works longer than 4 days in duration but less than 10. This would then imply that the works category should be Standard and the section 74 charge is calculated using this implied works category. If the duration extension would have taken the works to more than 10 days, then the implied category would be Major.
