What it means
The File Monitor keeps track of the files you're Editing by using keys in the Windows Registry to store information about each file, such as its name, ID and location on the server. If one or more of these registry keys is missing key information about the document it relates to, this can cause one of the runtime errors shown above.
This problem can be resolved by removing any registry keys pertaining to documents that are being monitored, but which are missing some of the information required by the File Monitor. As the process requires modifying the Windows Registry, you may not be able to do this without the assistance of your IT department.
- Close the File Monitor by right-clicking on the
icon in your Windows taskbar and selecting Exit
- Press Windows key + R on your keyboard, type regedit and click OK
- Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GroupBC\FileMonitor\Files
- Under this key in the navigation panel, you should see more keys labelled as numbers - each of these corresponds to a file that you're Editing, and, in the case of a healthy key, should contain 8 values
- Any corrupted key responsible for the runtime error you're encountering will not have these 8 values under it
- Delete any numbered keys under the Files key that don't contain the 8 values shown below:
