The Bentley BIMWork viewer has been upgraded to BIM 1.4. This is the latest, supported version of the BIMWork viewer. Why the change?
- To include several functional improvements such as improved error handling
- Several bug fixes were implemented
In addition, this update removed some seldom-used legacy functionality:
- Clash detection
- Associated documents
- Associated links
This update:
- Will not require IFC files to be re-imported.
- IFC files which could previously be viewed will still be viewable after the update.
- Did not require any downtime of either the BCDE instance or the BIMWork viewer
- Was carried out at a time to minimise impact on users
- Did not require any pre- or post-upgrade testing because:
- It is a simple switch to point your instance of BCDE to a different server for providing the IFC viewer capabilities
- BIMWork 1.4 has been thoroughly tested by Bentley’s in-house QA team
- BIMWork 1.4 does not include significant changes in either functionality or any changes in data structures
Please note that:
- Users will not be able to view clashes after the update, in existing or new IFC files
- Users will still be able to view associated documents or links from the BIMWork viewer, in a read-only state - after the update, it will not be possible to add new associations
