LEAP Bridge v12.01.00.57

Enhancements:

  • Introduced a new analysis option “Integral Abutment Bridge” in the Project tab. This option allows users to analyze and design integral abutments.
  • Support for Pile Bent and Wall Pier Type abutments has been added. ABC Wizard custom definition, 2D and 3D drawings and transfer of information to RC-PIER and Geomath are now supported.
  • The variable cap definition in ABC Wizard for Tapered Cap Pier has been updated.
  • ABC Wizard now allows input for piles battered in transverse direction.
  • A 3D bridge model of currently loaded bridge is now generated in dgn format and displayed automatically on the drawings tab.
  • Added bridge deck elevation reports.
  • Updated bearing/beam seats dialog to facilitate easier input.
  • Beam seat orientation (with respect to girder or pier) is now supported.
  • During installation, program libraries will by default be added under “C:\ProgramData\Bentley\LEAP Bridge Enterprise\” folder to comply with Windows standards to eliminate problems with access to users without Admin privileges. If you have customized program libraries, you can move them to the above folder, and set the correct paths in the Library Setup dialog from within LEAP Bridge interface.
  • Significantly improved the speed of execution while working on files located on remote servers. Now, a local copy of the data files is made automatically and uploaded to the server only when the file is saved.
  • Updated the technical support dialogs with new telephone instructions, and the technical support information tool (tsinfo.exe) to detect new operating systems.

 

Fixes:

  • Several graphical issues have been fixed including distorted 3D view of custom girder section, crisscrossing of girders, abutment flipped outwards, and incorrectly sloped abutments.
  • Following integration issues have been fixed: 
  • Incorrect pile diameter after update from RC-PIER. 
  • Incorrect vertical profile station read from InRoads.
  • Fixed issue of not being able to print very large numbers of RC-PIER load combinations.
  • An option to disable ProjectWise integration has been provided under the Preferences dialog.

 

 

LEAP CONSPAN v12. 01.00.57

Enhancements:

  • CONSPAN has been updated to comply with the AASHTO LRFD 6th edition. Primary changes are minimum reinforcement requirement changes and Mcr calculations.
  • CONSPAN now offers three types of temperature loading – uniform temperature, linear gradient, and multi-linear gradient temperature loading according to AASHTO, CHBDC, and IRC codes.
  • Beam rotations are now reported under Load case results on the Analysis Tab.
  • For the Canada Design Code, the transfer length in previous versions was computed as per C8.15.4 from S6.1-06. This has been changed to 50 diameters as per C8.9.1.8.
  • For integral abutment bridges option set in LEAP Bridge, CONSPAN analysis and design procedures remain unchanged. In other words, the girders are not analyzed and designed for negative moments at the ends.
  • TXDOT beam sections have been introduced in the library.

 

Fixes:

  • In v12.00.00.45 only, the load factors on the Analysis Tab/Analysis Parameters were not being applied to the various combinations when displayed on the Analysis Tab or in the printout for Moment and Shear Envelopes. The following results were affected:
  • Live Load stresses under Service III, the 0.8 factor was not applied. The totals were not correct as a result. Higher stresses may result.  
  • No effect on Ultimate Moment, Vertical Shear, Horizontal Shear, Camber/Deflections, Reinforced design. Even though the Shear and Moment Envelopes did not show the correct values, internally the factors were being applied.
  • Deck thickness (effective + sacrificial) was not being stored in LEAP Bridge, and was getting reset to total deck thickness. This issue is now fixed.
  • Fixed an issue where the change of concrete strength made in CONSPAN was not being retained after a roundtrip to LEAP Bridge.
  • Fixed an issue when using the option for Simplified Shear per LRFD, where CONSPAN was considering the maximum shear rather than the shear corresponding to the maximum moment.
  • Updated the computation of “de” used in computing the distribution factors for multi-stemmed beams, where the distance is now measured with reference to the center of the exterior web of exterior beam, rather than the center of the beam.

Enhancements:

  •  CONBOX now offers three types of temperature loading, including uniform temperature, linear gradient and multi-linear gradient temperature. Multi-linear temperature loading complies with AASHTO, CHBDC, and IRC codes.
  • Piers can now be defined with unsymmetrical spacing of columns.
  • Revised relaxation loss calculation to use the approximate estimate of time-dependent losses per AASHTO LRFD-6.
  • Added Substructure report for the load combinations.
  • AASHTO LRFD 6th edition and California Amendments code updates:
  • Minimum reinforcement requirement and Mcr calculations.
  • Eliminated PPR (Partial Prestressing Ratio) from resistance factor

 

Fixes:

  • For IRC beam bridges: Unable to analyze bridges with widths greater than 15m. It’s fixed.
  • Fixed the two-way pier data integration issue between CONBOX and RC-PIER.
  • Fixed the temperature conversion (Fahrenheit – Celsius) using the correct formula instead of a single factor (1.8).
  • Set the zonal temperatures based on the units selected – using tables and not conversions.
  • The signs on the temperature loading (increase/decrease) between the input values and the ones used internally by the program were switched. This is now fixed.
  • Change of X-Section in CONBOX could not be saved in LEAP Bridge. It’s fixed.
  • Project info could not be correctly transferred from LEAP Bridge to CONBOX. It’s fixed.
  • Internally improved the workflow to speed up the execution of CONBOX when curved bridges with offset are used.
  • Design parameters did not reset when specifications in Project Tab were changed. It’s fixed.
  • CONBOX bridge model in certain instances could not be brought back to LEAP Bridge correctly. It’s fixed.
  • View Analysis was not available after Run Analysis was done for a typical T-beam bridge. It also happened when Girder-by-Girder analysis option was selected. It’s fixed.
  • Revised design report to say “Auto” instead of “-1” when the resistance factors are automatically calculated.

Enhancements:

  • For integral abutment bridges RC-PIER performs a 3D frame analysis. In the 3D analysis each abutment and pier is part of the full bridge model and is subjected to the loads generated through RC-PIER. Model tab displays both the 3D model and the specific abutment or pier 2D frame with the node and member numbers referenced in the analysis reports.
  • Enhanced auto-design for column biaxial bending.
  • Offered an option to separate auto-design for flexure and shear.
  • Enhanced flexure and shear design reports with details regarding intermediate calculations.

  • Hinge added in RC-PIER was not retained upon a roundtrip to LEAP Bridge. It has been fixed.
  • Inconsistent sign convention was used for the continuous beam option (now called Cap as Continuous Beam) for pile cap abutment. It’s fixed.
  • Incorrect locations of Face of Support in structural model were calculated when multiple rows of circular piles were used in pile cap abutment. It’s fixed.
  • Bogus support showed up in structural model when continuous beam analysis option was selected in pile cap abutment. It’s fixed.
  • The following issues related to CALTRANS Amendments have been fixed :
  • HL-93 load cases were incorrectly imported into RC-PIER from the text file generated by CONBOX.
  • Lane loads were incorrectly brought into RC-PIER when permit truck load cases were imported.
  • Incorrect multiple presence factors were used when the permit truck loads were generated.
  • More than 2 lanes were loaded when the permit truck loads were generated.

 

Geometry Module: GEOMATH v12. 01.00.57

 

Enhancements:

  • Update for wall pier and pile bent.
  • Added labels to deck contours and added Export to DGN option to right mouseclick in the deck contour view.
