CONSPAN Flared Girder Alignment Dialog

Hi, guys, I have a question regarding "Bridge Alignment" for "Flared Girder" in CONSPAN.

The help file tells "CONSPAN assists the design by computing the distance between supports along the centerlines of the bridge and, if desired, along the centerline of each girder."

I can understand how to define the centerline horizontal curve as in the following picture. However, please teach me how to define the support distance for each girder.

  • If I understand your question correctly , I believe you are asking about how to input the distance between each girder along the Support.

    1) Once the stationing, Bearing and Deck information is inputted in the Bridge Component Layout box then the user needs to click on Cross Section button.

    2) In the new Cross Section Layout window user can input the spacing between the girders and the first distance is measured from the Edge of the deck.

    3) In V14 for a skewed bridge if the user selects the Flared Girder option then the user can input the spacing of the girder measured "Along the Support."

    4) In V14 for a skewed bridge if the user does not select the Flared girder option then the user can input the spacing of the girder measured "Along Normal to Reference".

    5) In the future released for a skewed bridge if the user selects the Flared girder option then in the cross section layout window 2 options are provided  to input the spacing of the beams. One measured "Along the Support " and other "Along Normal to Reference" . Either way user can input the spacing of the beams.

Please do refer the user manual for more information.

Please see the attached Screen Shot.
