I am having an issue with CONSPAN calculating the shear and moment envelopes. I am designing a 75 ft beam using the AREMA Cooper E-80 Live load. The shear and moment envelopes that I get are not symmetrical.
The live load shear row (highlighted), and the live load moment row above it are not symmetrical. The midspan shear is 29.9k, and the 0.4L and 0.6L shear values are 80.5 and 34.3 kips, respectively. If you run the load across the bridge both ways, the envelopes should be symmetrical.
After messing around with some things, I found that the trigger of this problem is span length.
As you can see from the picture below, for a 60 ft span, the shear and moment envelopes work like they should.
Does anyone have any clue why this problem is occurring, and if there is any way to fix it?
Thank you.
In V13 & V14 there was a limitation with respect to the span length where in the AREMA COOPER E 80 loads can be applied. But this issue has been resolved in the soon to be released V15 .I tested this issue in V15 for a 80 ft span bridge and the program is showing symmetrical results for shear and moment envelope.Once released please download the latest version from Bentley Select server.
