CONSPAN - Skew Angle

Hi,

I am designing girders for a span that has no skew on one end and a 45 degree skew on the other. There are 7 girders with lengths that range from 102.5' to 142.5'.

I used the center girder's length as the Precast Length under the geometry tab. Under the Diaphragm Load Wizard, the image shows the spans as they should be (with girders ranging in length from 102.5' to 142.5').

However, once I get to the Beam tab to design a strand pattern, I noticed that the program is using the center girder's length I input in the geometry tab for all girders.

Is there a place where I can input the correct precast lengths for each girder? Or do I have to create a separate file for each girder in this case?

Thank you.

  • Firstly it looks like you might be working on V14.00.00.19 and in this version there were some issues related to the way the program shows the girder lengths in the Beam TAB  when skew is applied. This issue has been resolved in V15 which will be released very soon.

Just to add a note to calculate the distance between the supports ,Conspan considers the station numbers from the center of the abutment to center of abutment and does not consider the station based on the alignment. User needs to calculate the stationing based on center of the bridge and later on in Layout option input the deck offset.

Please see the related Be Communities Support solution link.

I tested this issue in V15 and I modeled the bridge with no skew on one end a 45 degree skew on the other and now the program is showing the correct girder lengths in the Beam TAB. Please see the attached screenshots for more information.

Finally I would suggest you to download the latest version from Bentley select server when it is released. The release will be announced in Bentley Communities.

Please let me know if you need any additional information.
