Is there a tutorial or further information on how to use the "Flared Girder" option in Conspan? I am using version 14 and have entered the spacing between beams along the support but when the spacing is shown in the bridge section, the beam spacing is not correct.
Hi Rob,
For Flared Girder geometry, first you need to toggle ON the Flared Girder option in the Project Tab:
Then go to the Geometry tab and click on "Cross Section..."
The Cross Section Layout dialog box allows you to define the curb data, lane data, topping thickness and most importantly the layout of the girders.
Beam numbering is based on looking upstation, and Beam 1 being referenced as the extreme left-hand-side girder with all other beams following sequentially in each span. The Distance from previous beam at start or end of each span is always measured along the pier length (accounting for any skew). For the first beam in each span, this distance is measured from the pier cap edge (to account for cases where the pier cap length may not be the same as deck width, etc.).

Thanks for the earlier response. I still have issues with the geometry. Below is a bridge run with skewed supports and simple span.
Here is the alignment information.
Here is the layout information. I could not find where the deck offset alignment was defined. I assume if you leave at 0, the alignment is taken along the longitudinal centerline of the bridge.
Here is the cross section information. For this situation, the beams are actually parallel. I noticed you are using a later version of the software, not version 14.
As you can see in the bridge cross section below, the deck and beams do not line up correctly. The beams need to be shifted 3.15 ft to the right. Let mw know if you see an input error.
Thanks for any help you can provide!
The attached image should explain the Deck Offset and Deck Width along with other terms:
