Live Load Manual Input Question

Hi, Dear All,

If I calculate live load caused bearing reaction directly as input for RC-Pier, I should consider multiple presence factor and should not consider impact factor in these reaction forces. Am I right? Please let me know. Thanks.

Thanks,

Dong

  • 1) The impact factor is applied when the user clicks Run Analysis button in the Analysis TAB.
    2) Regarding the Multiple presence factor , if the user is inputting the LL reactions manually then he has to multiply the MPF with the LL reactions and then input the values in RCpier .When the user generates the Live load reaction then the program multiplies the LL reactions with the MPF in the LOADS TAB itself.

  • I am unable to select the lane load toggle box when I manually input my live load reactions. I have LEAP Bridge Concrete CONNECT Edition v. 16.00.00.24.

First question, is this an error in the program or some option I need to select.

Second question, if I am not able to select this, is the impact value for truck applied to all reactions?
  • Unable to select the lane load toggle box is not error in the program. If the user inputs the design truck reactions first and lane load reactions next , the program will automatically apply the impact factor to the Design truck and not the lane load.

Just to avoid confusion the workaround solution for this issue is to first generate the Loads by selecting the Design truck + Lane Load and then input the Design truck reactions with MPF manually and also input the Lane load reactions manually in the cells right next to the toggle box.

Once this is done the impact factor will be applied to only the Design truck reactions , only when the user clicks on Run Analysis button.
