I start with my interior beam and make changes to the geometry and loading. The Effective Width is the effective slab width carried by the beam. For an internal beam this would just be the same as the spacing between beams, but for an exterior beam it's 1/2 the beam spacing plus the width of the overhang. Thanks though.

RE: Leap Consplice Exterior Beam Design

Brandon,
Effective with is the width of the compression block used for ultimate capacity calculation. The effective width you enter manually can be verified in the Detailed Moment Capacity report under Flange Width. The bridge width you input is located under Distribution Factors and not related to the Effective Width. DF for LL can be verified under Truck/Lane report. As a strategy for creating your first model you can use Tutorial 2 of CONSPLICE or Tutorial 4 and modify them in order to minimize potential issues. Please make sure you are using the latest version of CONSPLICE v1.3.0.22.
