RC-Pier Cap Open Joint

Is it possible to model an open joint in a pier cap in RC-Pier? See image below.

If not what would be the best work around?

I'm using RC-Pier V8i (SELECTseries 6), Version 13.00.00.68.

  • RC-PIER does not directly support modeling open joint in pier cap. However, there is a workaround which could be close to that on the analytical standpoint. Basically, you could define a very weak element (with a very small length and thickness) at the gap location. You may contact our technical support group for more details.

By the way, there have been five new releases since the RC-PIER 13.0.0.68. In order to take advantage of a number of new features being implemented and avoid many issues being fixed, please upgrade your product to the latest version – LEAP Bridge Concrete CONNECT Edition v16.1.0.10.
