Have anyone in this forum found that the new release (V 16.02.00.01) has some serious problems changing the steel plates on your bridge? To do so one has to enter into the Member Definition. When you get into the window you will find that, besides Member 01, the Members are locked. Support gave me these instructions to "unlock" the member for editing:
I clicked on Member Definition option and a new window opened and I agree that except for Member 1 all the members are locked or deactivated. There are 2 ways the user can reactivate all the members.1) First method is to click on Generate Plates option and click on any of the 3 options , in my case I selected the last option " Members in all groups" .2) Then user will get a warning message saying that LBS will reset all the existing members then click YES.3) Then the program will ask for Initial Plate Properties and then click OK.4) Then all the members get activated and now any changes can be done to the members.5) in the second method user can click on RESET button on the top of the window and then the program will show a warning message ,then click YES.6) Then all the members get activated and now any changes can be done to the members but in this method all the original input gets erased.
So the first method is a better option.
Be aware that the Generate Plates has to be run each time you get back into Member Definition to make changes to your steel beams, which means that you will have to do the following:
1. Run the Generate Plates (when I already had the plates in the file) just to UNLOCK the Members and Member Elements2. Running Generate Plates changes all the plate inputs.3. Re-enter all the plates thickness, lengths of plates, and location of all plates.4. After exiting the Member Definition window, run the analysis and design check.
I have also found that the stud entry becomes locked when trying to make any entries.
Please let me know if you have experienced any of these problems yourself.
Thank you,
SBH
