I have a project with multiple bridges ("Bridge North" and "Bridge South"). On "Bridge North" I attach a custom pier. It looks as expected. Here is a screen shot:
If I change to "Bridge South" and turn off "Bridge North" and then turn on "Bridge North" again, my pier looks like this:
