I fell into same issue where I had a reference alignment and during the design, Rail designer had provided a new .dgn file with new alignment, however the name of the plan and profile were same and that's where I guess OBM was getting confused as for software nothing has changed. the workaround I used was to create a dummy alignment with new plan and profile name so OBM will adept the new alignment and once the bridge is shifted to new dummy alignment. Save the file, close and re-open, now you can assign your updated alignment and OBM will consider it as new set of alignment.

Regards,

Re-making the models is not really ideal as we have over 100 to make. What is this excel input template?

RE: OpenBridge - How to update an existing Alignment

I forgot to mention, sometimes when you move a bridge to a new alignment the stationing can get thrown out of whack. You may have to use the "move bridge" tool to reset the begin bridge to correct station. That has helped me in this situation in the past, but I have also run into a situation where no matter what I did I could not reestablish correct association, so something got corrupt. At that point i just created a new file and re-built the model which really wasn't too bad considering you can build models in OBM in a couple hours or less. This is another reason why i created an excel input template to save all input data in case i need it again in the future.

RE: OpenBridge - How to update an existing Alignment

Many thanks for your response Steven.
I have attempted your solution, but it does not appear to be working. I have been using the workflow you suggested, and have been trying to update the alignment within the reference file. Any further assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

RE: OpenBridge - How to update an existing Alignment

Can you try to rename the existing alignment and associated profile in OpenBridge, and then try to import the changed alignment. If this successful, you can then use the Set Working Alignment for Bridge command to move your bridge to the new alignment.

Going forward, remember that an alternative workflow, where you reference in a file with the alignment rather than import may be a preferred workflow in these situations
