Does anyone know of the Bentley Reccomended setup for storing templates on Projectwsie as a repository for all users (so that everyone is using the same templates. We have had success putting the Config file on ProjectWise, but the template files do not update when someone adds a new section.
following this issue. at the moment. i noticed that only one user can access the "standard template" at a time. Also if this template is saved in a restricted folder, then only users with admin rights can actually modify this template. is there also a way in the config to load multiple template for each user in PW?
Hi,
At the link below you will find all the necessary information for creating a dynamically managed configuration folder for OBM in PW.
OpenBridge Modeler and Dynamic Managed WorkSpaces in ProjectWise - LARS | LEAP | OpenBridge | RM Wiki - LARS | LEAP | OpenBridge | RM - Bentley Communities
Be aware of the following:
- when working on PW, the PW workflow applies i.e. if a user does not have the right to access a folder in PW, he will not be able to access it through OBM;
- the configuration folder created on PW is at an application level (OBM) and not at a user level i.e. all the users will use the same configuration folder; you can create multiple configurations folders for each user, but this will need a lot of time to manage and update when new enhancements are pushed in the default configuration shipped with the product;
- some of the templates (like beams, barriers, etc.) are stored in a single file (xml) so, when one user will open the library to edit one of the beams from that file, the xml file from PW is checked out and marked as ready only for other users; this is the normal behavior of PW and it is not a setting from OBM; once the user checks back the xml file, the file becomes available for writing for other users also;
- if the user will not check back the file that contains his local changes, these changes will not become available for other users because the file on PW is the initial file

Hi Vlad,
can you have an IF statement to define the _USTN_WORKSETROOT folder so if Folder A doesnt exist it goes to Folder B?reason for that is because some project has different folder structuring.and i noticed that if the workset folder in that project doesnt exist, OBM wont run
You can certainly take what we offer as a template and make it your own including checking for template files in other than the workset location. OBM will run without a configuration, but it is a very difficult way to work and certainly adds a lot of extra work to those trying to be productive.
