Recently, I have started working on Leap Bridge Concrete V 17.01.01.11 , and we start questioning whether the hanger reinforcement check has been considered or not on this version, AASHTO 5.13.2.5.5. I couldn't see anywhere checking the combination of shear and torsion together to count for the higher effect.
Thank you
Shear Design for Hanger reinforcement is done as per 5.13.2.5.5.
Design procedure for shear and torsion remains same as it is for multicolumn pier using LRFD.
Vinay,
Thanks for the prompt response ! do you know where I can see this check?
Hanger reinforcement is basically the vertical rebar in the Stem of the Inverted T beam and this design can be seen in the Shear and Torsion Design Table.
I hope it helps
On AASHTO (eq 5.13.2.5.5-3) it shows the Ahr/s and this is what I can't see on the Shear and Torsion Design Table. Please see below :
hope this shows what I'm asking for in specific.
I apologize for the incorrect information I had provided before as my information was partially correct.
I double checked it and unfortunately that verification to account for hanger reinforcement is not considered for inverted T.
what is treated as hanger reinforcement by LRFD, RCPier/Substructure has included in stirrup verification,…. and stirrup verification is performed as usual with no difference, like for any other rectangular beam section.
Additional checks needs to be done by hand seperately
