Hello to everyone,
I would like to know if someone knows if it is possible to create a longitudinal section of a bridge along its alignment so that if the bridge is in horizontal curve I can get the real longitudinal profile? Perhaps it is possible by creating a profile (like in OpenRoads) but I don't know how to do it so if that's the way it should be done I would like an explanation how to do it.
Thank you for the support in advance!
Hi Kalin,
You can create sheets with the plan view, profile view (longitudinal section) or plan-profile views similar to ORD workflow.
The main steps for profile view creation are:
- open the profile view of your alignment
- use option "Create 3d cut" from the upper window toolbar and create a profile cut using one of the 2 option provided
- go to view attributes and choose a desired vertical exaggeration
- start the Place Named Boundary option, choose the option "Civile Profile" and select the profile
- select the desired data (drawing seed, detail scale, start-stop locations etc.)
- check all the checkboxes presented at the bottom of the window
- click once on profile window in order to see graphically the named boundary
- if everything is ok click a second time in the view in order to accept the data and proceed to the Create Drawing window
Please note that the profile view will show only the elements that are intersected by a vertical plane that passes through the alignment. So, if you don't have a center beam, for example, you will see a gap between the deck and the pier caps.
Hope this is clear enough!
