Hi,
I'm new to LEAP Bridge Concrete. I'm currently using the Spliced Girder module and the tutor2 example. I did a save as of the tutor2 example and modified the input values/staging/etc. When I ran my model, the design output status showed that the design fails. Just to double check, I also ran the analysis for tutor2 and that also fails. I wonder what could be wrong. Can someone help?
Thanks
Catherine, it is a very good idea that your very first model did modify one of the existing tutorials. This is what I usually recommend to new users especially because of the staging sequence. Tutorials are intended for learning the basics of building a model. Tutorials are not intended to be perfect design examples where no flag will show up. It is also possible that the AASHTO Code requirements may have changed since the tutorials were created around the year 2002 when the program was launched. As a methodology of working with the program the next step after seeing a "Fail" for a stage in design status is to go and check the specific design report and find out at which POI the flag was issued. For example you may find out that a check at a splice is failing. There are also detailed reports for shear and torsion intended for hand calculations checks. Once you know where the failures are reported you may think at corrective measures let say increasing the concrete strength or giving more time to concrete to cure. However, keep the exact stages found in tutorials as a minimum of staging requirement for such long spans.
