RC Pier says it has been updated for AASHTO LRFD 8th Edition. However, based on the Theory it appears that the pier cap for a multi-column pier is still designed using a frame analysis and beam theory (B-region) for all sections. With the new code, does RC Pier design the pier using the D-region criteria of Section 5.8.2? If not, will an update be provided in the near future which will allow Strut-Tie-Model (STM) to be used in the design of the pier cap and the footings per Section 5.8.2 for D-regions.
Has this made any progress? It has been a year since the Enhancement Request was made with multiple update to the software since then.
currently the work in progress
Is there a timetable as to when you expect to release this? The code has been out for over 2 years, and it is very frustrating to be paying for software that cannot perform the job it is intended to do per the current code for so long.
Was there any update on this question?
FYI... there is language even in the newest AASHTO 9th edition that allows us to design using traditional/legacy methods (AASHTO 5.8.4.1 & 5.8.2.6)
