Has anyone had successfully defined a custom pier based on the parametric cell that contained 3D solids and was included in PierCellLib.cel library? The "place custom" in OBM Rel3 does not define as such pier, however, it is possible when the standard MicroStation Cell Library tool is used. Unfortunately, with the last option, the pier is not linked with the bridge definition.
In addition, is it possible to define the sloped/inclined columns in the standard templates for piers in Pier Library?
Thanks
Can you please post an image of the pier you are attempting to model. We are looking at supporting this in future versions.
You can also file a service ticket with the image, if it is more involved.
Hi Sri and thanks for replying. The screenshot presents the pier we'd like to add. Note that the diaphragm is missing.
The cell has several parameters defined, however, I'm not sure what are the steps to make this cell to work with option Place Custom Pier.
How did you create inclined columns?
Pawel, You should be able to create and place your cell using the place custom Pier option. We are currently working on adding support for functional components/parametric cells in OBM for our April release.
I used the Pile bent option to place columns/piles at an angle.
Yes, I can make in theory all above the foundation pad... but I need foundations included as well. Ay further advice?
Pawel,
We can use a little trick for now. You can place 2 piers on the same support line, so for one pier model the superstructure as you want and for the infrastructure insert some very small values for the dimension (no piles). In this way, the infrastructure will become just a small dot.
In the same manner, create a new template for the infrastructure where the columns and caps have small dimensions.
Issues:
- take care with the quantities
- you will have issues at transfer to analytics
- if you will create excavations be careful to select the correct pier that has the footing that you want
