I have prepared roads alignment using civil tools (see my previous post). But when I was trying to add the bridge the message “Road and Bridge alignment should be different” is being displayed.
Comparing my model with Segmental Bridge example I have noticed that within example road alignment is described “in plan” and within my model descriptions were "moved" to profile. Is thist the reason I can’t add a bridge ? If so, how to fix it? It wasn’t my intension to do it this way it “just happened”. I haven’t found any example with making road alignment within OBM, so I can’t find where did I go wrong. I will be grateful for and advice.
Regards,
Bogdan
Bogdan ... you only need both alignments if the road and bridge alignments are not coincident. For example a straight bridge on a curved alignment. In that case, the curved alignment would be the road alignment, and the straight alignment and profile will be the bridge alignment.
Hello Steve,
Thank you for your advice. To be honest I'm OBM greenhorn, so there is still more qestion marks than answers. But somehow I added to bridges but I can’t catch the concept of working with them.
First doubts are Civil Data:
Another question refers to bridges:
In my case only flat (horizontal) alignment can be pointed as a bridge alignment. But when I point it and try to add support lines program crashed.
I suppose 3D alignment representation should be pointed, but I can’t do it – message “Element not valid for this tool” is being displayed. Is the any way to make 3D alignment available for bridge definition?
