A few quick questions:
EV - Pressure from Dead Load of Earth Fill: There is only one selection option for Load Type - UDL (klf), which is fine, can I assume this is calculated as (soil density (kcf) * soil thickness (ft) * footing length (ft)), and when LEAP performs footing design, this force is distributed back to entire footing length by divided by footing length? this will not affect spread footing, but will affect pile footing. Or this UDL (klf) should be per linear foot of footing length, i.e. = soil density (kcf) * soil thickness (ft) / ft?
ES - Earth Surcharge: There are two selection options: UDL(klf) and Force (kips). If I select UDL, the default direction is Z, which is good, similar question is this UDL the force applied to entire length of abutment?
Since besides horizontal pressure (Z direction), there is vertical component (Y-direction), it seems program has three options (x,y,z), but I can only select Z, which is odd.
LS - Live load surcharge - LS is very similar to ES, has horizontal (Z) and vertical components (Y), however there is only one option: Z in trapezoidal, which is horizontal, this could be UDL.
EV load -- UDL load is calculated as = soil density (kcf) * soil thickness (ft) * footing length (ft)) = EV in K/ft which is applied along the width of the footing and then applied at the center of the footing.
The same logic applies to all other similar load cases.
I hope it helps.
