I am designing a hammer head pier cap using LEAP Bridge Concrete's strut and tie option. I have input "main bars" and "stirrups" under the Cap tab. When I check the Design Status of the pier cap, I do not see where it checks the stirrup input against the area required for vertical tension ties.
Is this left up to the designer to do separately from the program? Please let me know thanks.
Please make sure you have selected STM for hammer head in the pier configuration
input he strut and tie model in Hammer STM option.
Then you should be able to see the rebar information in the output.
For Top Tension ties we do show the Ast required and Provided information.
For Vertical Tension Ties we do show the Av required and Smax and the user has to provide the rebar more than required.
Thank you for the response Vinay.
So just to be clear, when you enter stirrups in the cap design tab for STM, LEAP will not "check" that input against the Av-req for vertical tension ties?
You are welcome.
Currently the program is not comparing the shear rebar input against the Av-req for vertical tension ties.
