It seems that I cannot import geometry from OpenRoadsDesigner (10.08.01.33) into OpenBridge Modeler (10.08.01.78) due to incompatibility and can only open as read only... which versions of the softwares are compatible? how can I solve this.

You should be able to reference in the OpenRoads data to use its geometry in OpenBridge, with no need to import.
