Open Bridge Modeler to Leap Bridge Steel Overwriting Issue

Open Bridge Designer Version: 10.08.01.30

Open Bridge Modeler Version: 10.08.01.87

Leap Bridge Steel Version: 20.00.00.24

I am having difficulties with using leap bridge steel within the open bridge designer application. I am finding that each time I go into LBS from OBM (BIM workflow), various aspects of my design are overwritten and need to be re-entered (specifically sacrificial deck thickness, shear connectors, wearing surface information, & load combinations). I have not been able to figure out how to prevent this from happening, and it is not feasible to re-enter the information every time I go back into LBS. Is there a specific aspect of the workflow that I am misusing to cause this to happen?

Thank you,

Andrew Lemieux

  • Hi Andrew,

BIM workflow is designed for a seamless and automatic flow from OBM to analytics (LEAP) in which the changes to the model made in OBM automatically gets pushed to LEAP - or you can choose "Update Analytics" option in the same dropdown where you hit "Send To" for manual push. Please note that when you click "Send To", it creates a new LEAP from scratch (to create alternative designs, etc.). In short, you can make the required changes in OBM, and open LEAP from OBD interface under "Analytics' to see the most up to date physical geometry reflected in analytical model and to retain design related entries previously input. Please note that the changes made to the OBM model is classified as major or minor changes on LEAP side - Major changes (like addition of a new beam, etc.) are causing a reset on design related entries, while minor changes (like span length change, etc.) keep (or slightly modify) the previously entered information.

Please let us know if you need further clarification,

    Thanks,

  • Burak,

I have a follow up question that has come up for me. I am now following the correct work-flow as suggested above/below, but am still having difficulty with losing data. Every time I resume work in my leap bridge steel file I find I am missing the same data:

    1) Sacrifical deck thickness

    2) shear connector material

    3) shear connector type definition entered in the shear connector location dialogue

    4) additional camber entered in the camber diagram dialogue

Also, I have found that occasionally some of my loads disappear out of load combinations without warning, though this does not seem to happen consistently.

Do you have any idea what could be causing the issue?
