I need to create a new beam type in open bridge. there are two different sizes. one is 12" tall X 3'-11.75" long and the other one is 12" tall x 4'-11.75". In Texas they are called slab beams, but I am not sure how to create two new ones.
No, sorry; it's something else and will fall under the Beam Slab (P/S or RC Concrete Girders) type as they have Deck and Girders.
Spacing and cross-section of the Girders can be different, but they cannot be of different group types. For example: steel and concrete can't be mixed in OBM.
Despite your Girders may not be already available under the TXDOT typical girders you can still create them and add to the Libraries.
The Girders are selected at the Place Beam button from the Superstructure Ribbon Group when you first create the new input, or you can modify them later, at the Properties, as shown in the beginning of this other article:
You can't change the Bridge Type as there are bridge type specific details which get added internally, and it would cause issues.

this is the shapes I am trying to create. Maybe there are concrete beams in the program which are similar and I can modify. I don't know every type.
These are what slab beams looks like. There is a certain distance between them and the deck sits on top.
Monica, These beams already exist in the default OBM Beams Template library. You can simply use them. Remember to use "Beam Type" = Custom, in the Beam Definition dialog, to be able to select these beams from the OBM Beam Template Library.
