I am having difficulty saving OBD files to a network location. I see there has been some discussion on saving and retrieving library information. Has anyone else experienced this?
Hi Josh,
Can you please give us more information about this? Please describe in steps what is your workflow.
Vlad,
This is the information I have. This is from a colleague. As a side note. I have no difficulty saving to the same network.
I open Open Bridge DesignerI hit New FileI go to the Network DriveI find the file location I would like to save it to and name the fileI hit saveIt always tells me “(the file location) already exists. Do you want to replace it?” and I just press “Yes” even though there isn’t a file with the same name in that locationI click standalone I click new fileI name the fileI press analysisAnd then everything turns grey after two seconds and I cant press on it and the standalone file that I created disappears and I get a message in the bottom right corner that says the “File is Updated”
Other times if I click on Leap Bridge Concrete fast enough it opens up leap bridge concrete and if I try to open the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Dialog it freezes and I have to end task to get it to stop.
Other times if I can get it to work it looks like it saves and then when I turn my computer off and back on again the file goes away.
If I do these steps on my local drive everything works fine.
I just save the file to the network every night and make sure to open it from my local drive when I am working on it.
Having similar issues to the original post. We are able to save .obdx files to our network server. However, with the latest version of the software we are not able to save any LBS or LBC files to the network. When clicking "Save As", no option to pick a folder is given. A dialog box pops up simply asking for filename. They are saved to a C:/Users/xxx/AppData/Local/Temp directory on the local machine. Only way to find where the files are saved is to hover over the recent file list that drops down from the LBS/LBC icon in the top left corner. Our current workaround is to copy the file from the local machine to the network server. You can open the file from the server, but any changes you make and save still go back to the local machine temp directory.
This was not a problem on prior versions and needs fixed ASAP.
Currently running:
OpenBridge Designer Connect Edition V. 10.08.02.55
Leap Bridge Steel V. 20.01.00.07
Leap Bridge Concrete V. 20.01.00.14
Hi Brian,
You do not have an issue, this is how OBD works starting from version 8.1.
Starting with version 8.1 the analytic files, are saved directly in the obdx database and NOT on the local drive. The temp folders are used to work with the files when you open (extract) the file from the database.

Can I kindly ask to request a short video from your colleague that shows the entire workflow and problem? This will help us in investigating his issue.
Thanks!
