I am trying to design pier/bent cap for TxDOT bridges and I observed the braking force calculated is according to AASHTO but not according to TxDOT bridge manual
which states the braking force is 5% of truck load + lane load.
I tried to calculate total vertical live load (truck load / truck + lane load) and tried to do hand calculation to arrive at braking force in the program which will be 25% of truck load/tandem load
but unfortunately it did not match the calculation. Could you provide hand calculation for braking force please for verification?

Make sure you have the TxDOT State Spec selected on the project tab of the substructure module. If that is selected and you are still having a problem, please submit a service request.
