Zero deck thickness in Open Bridge Designer

Dear All

Please I need help in these two issues.

1. I am modeling my cored slab bridge which has no deck. I am having an issue when deleting the automatically inserted deck, all the bridge model is gone. I have tried to make a new deck template with zero thickness, but no luck. Also when I transferred the bridge model to leap bridge concrete, I couldn't edit the thickness of the deck there. Any idea?

2. Also I didn't see any option to add approach slabs in Open Bridge Designer, any idea?

Thanks

  • Hi Rafal,

1.The deck object in OBM is of great importance because it is the first 3d solid that is attached to the alignment/profile. The deck will give all the elevations to objects below it, thus any change in deck elevation will force an update for all objects. You can't create a deck with zero thickness because then there is no solid to be created by OBM. You can try to create a deck with a very small thickness that will not have a great influence on your modeling. If you are using a BIM Workflow in OBD, all the properties of the model solids are to be specified in the OBM model itself. If you want to make changes in the analytical model without changing the physical model from OBM, then you need to use the Standalone Workflow in OBD. Please read the Help file from OBD to understand these 2 workflows better.

    2. This is an enhancement that is under development and it will be included in the following releases. For now, you can try to model the approach slab as a new unit, that has a deck and an abutment/pier modeled to look like an approach slab footing. You can use Functional Components if you need a specific geometry.
