I am designing precast prestressed beams in Leap and I compared my results for elastic shortening and initial camber at midspan with hand calc and I am getting some differences.
I tried to investigate how leap is calculating and I am guessing the difference is on the way the self weight moment is calculated. Does leap uses the overall length of the beam for moment calculation at release or the center line bearing to centerline bearing distance?
Thanks
Please check the conspan tutorial Example 5 - Page number HC 37.

Thank you for replying and providing the resource.
I looked at the example and it looks like the overall length is used @ transfer for stress losses and camber except for the moment calculation due to self weight of the beam. I used the overall length for moment (due to beam self weight) calculation too .And that is one difference I see between my hand calc and conspan example. But I used the alternative equation for Elastic Shortening calc (C5.9.3.2.3a-1) in leap and it's not shown anywhere in the conspan example. Can you lead me to any other resources that show how the ES is calculated using the alternative equation?
Thank you
