Do elements created with OpenBridge dialogs have any intelligence that a simple Microstation elements does not? For example, if I created two matching models - one with OBM and the other with Microstation tools would there be any negatives to the Microstation generated model? Would the two models act the same if exported to the Leap analysis products? When its all said and done is an OBM dgn file just a simple MicroStation file or do things like beam layouts and supports get transferred to analysis software. Also, what if I have an OBM file with 95% OBM generated elements and just a few simple microstation elements? Does that screw up anything? Thanks so much for any advice.
Dennis
OBM places significant intelligence on the modeled elements using the native OBM tools including material information, NBI element numbers, plus it maintains all of the relationships between the elements. If a bridge is modeled with vanilla MS, there is no way for the software to know a deck from a beam from a pier or abutment so it could not be transferred to the LEAP products much less updated if changes are made in the analytical model.

Thanks so much Steve. One more question (if that's okay): If I modeled a bridge with OBM and lets say that I couldn't get the edge of a deck perfectly modeled and wanted to modify the 3D elements that were created with OBM with generic MS tools. Does that screw up the OBM intelligence on that element?
