Dear Bently supporters,I have modeled a simple span with a asymetric cross-section (pic as below). After running analyzer, i recieve a warning message that i shoule rotate section to calculate accrurate stress in asymetric section. Then i did some following steps in User Guide ( Articles 5.4.8 - Translating and Rotating Cross section, 5.4.9- Un-symetric Cross-section). After that, there are some issues that i need you guys help or explain what wrong with my model:- Picture 1 is my cross-section before rotating.
- Picture 2 and 3 is the one after rotating and reculating cross-section -ONLY (5.4.8 and 5.4.9 in User guide)
- After recalculating rotated cross section, position of neutral axis has changed, so that the value of moment of Tendo also changed.
So with the new value of Tendon moment, the value of stress in section still right? Or I do miss some steps to calculate "Stress in asymetric section"
Tendon moment before rotating section:
Tendon moment after rotating:
Hope that some one help me with this issue. thanks all
In RM Bridge and for asymmetric cross-sections, it is necessary to place the principal axis coincident with the local axis.
If you desire, you can send me the RM model for checking: anacarla.peres@bentley.com

As you see in picture 3, i do have rotated the pricipal axis coincident with the local axis. And aftet that, the position of neutral axis of section will change, so that the moment value of tendon also change
Btw, i just sent an email to you. Pleae check it out
Thank you, for your email. I'm going to investigate your file and come back to you as soon as possible.
