I am doing a pier design with ASD using LEAP 20.00.00.58, and I got 2 questions.
1. I noticed that if I specify the pier slenderness to be considered in A/D parameters, the footing design only outputs factored pile load. I realize that if strength group is specified, the program thinks the design is being done using LFD not ASD, but if the slenderness is not specified, the pile load output would include service and factored stress. Is there a way for the program to output both factored and service pile load with slenderness considered.
2. In the footing output table, service pile reaction are reported as "Without reduction allowance" and "after the reduction". User's manual didn't really explain what this reduction is. Would you please elaborate on what this reduction is and provide a code reference?
Thanks
You can try to create a custom factored combination with factors of one (same as the service combination) and run it with slenderness considered.
Overstress factors are those in column 14 (last one at the right) of AASHTO LFD Table 3.22.1A
