Export superstructure loads from Leap Bridge Steel to substructure design/analysis?

How to export superstructure loads from Leap Bridge Steel to substructure design/analysis? it appears none of my loads (DL, LL, DW, TU) have come in from  the superstructure.  I see the option to import from text file.  is there something I need to do in the superstructure module to export my loads to the substructure?

Thanks.

  • in LBS : Input all the Dead Load and Live loads in the Loads Dialog Box --> Please run the analysis --> Click on Substructure Design/Analysis option --> In the new Dialog Box Select the DL , LL , fatigue , RSA loads and other relevant loads and then click on Design/Analysis Button.

The program will automatically import all the loads selected.

The other option is to go to individual load case and click on Read option and import the loads from Suprestructure.

  • I found this thread while getting ready to post a question, and although my question is not exactly the same, it applies as well.  We are able to go to substructure design and analysis and export the geometry and loads with no problems (so far).  The issue I have is that we cannot save the design/analysis as the main file tab (new/open/save/save as) is missing in that LBC opened up from LBS.  I noticed that you do not have it either in your screenshots above.  I was trying to export this from LBS and saving it under OBD so other designers would not have to go in to LBS at all, but could start with the base geometry and loads.  But if I cannot save the file, they will not be able to open it.  Can you let me know how to save that design/analysis in LBS?

  • I agree that the save/save as option is not there in LBC opened up from LBS.

User has to close the substructure module once the analysis and design is done and the program automatically saves the file under

    LBS.

    I hope it helps.

  • Thanks for the quick reply Vinay.  We  noticed that it did save information by closing it out ony because when we opened it back up it was asking us if we wanted to write over the existing information.  One of the problems I was noticing with this method was that the only want to open it back up is to click on the analysis and design again.  However, this overwrote the project information so I felt like it was not saving everything.  Is there another way to open up the substructure design without inputting all of the information again?  This also makes it very difficult to perform QC on the substructure design.

What we are hoping the program would do is give you the option to save to LBC so then it could be stored under OBD and also uploaded to ProjectWise. Currently, we have to start up LBC from OBD and manually input everything because the export feature seems to be extremely limited.

  • The program does saves all the information , i would suggest you to not to overwrite the existing information.

Please let me know if you are still facing this issue.
