I am seeing different minimum moments in my pier cap when comparing the cap design output and moment diagram to the actual analysis output. The cap design and moment diagram are both reporting a maximum negative moment of -3599 k-ft, but the analysis output for the moment envelope is showing a minimum value of -4292 k-ft. The -4292 value is occurring at the same node (but next member) as the maximum positive moment. There is a positive 3599 k-ft moment listed in the analysis output at the location where the cap design and moment diagram show the -3599 k-ft moment. If the minimum moment is actually -3599 k-ft, why is there a larger negative moment shown in the analysis output? And why is the sign of the apparent minimum moment not the same in the cap design/moment diagram and the analysis output?
