Hello. I'm new to OBM and I'm tring to create an simple cross section variation from my support to the span, so I created two sections, my support section ( wider) and my span section. I modelled It following the guide " OBM: Varying the girder", but I cant by any means to model an linear variation. What am I missing here? Thanks a lot
The images below show my sections in OBM and also a image of the girder I want to model.
In your Beam Definition window on row 2 and row 4, it looks like you are using the same cross section for the Start Template and End Template. If you make these different, it will transition from one to the other. You need to make sure you have the same number of vertices in each cross section otherwise it won't work.
Hello Colby, sorry for the late response.
Dont this should be this way for achiving the cross-section change in the beginning (head) and the end (tail) of the girder ? As I responded Marcos, I tried every possible combination, but still I dont get an linear transition, everytime I get an instantaneous change of section. Also, what do you mean by vertices? Is those the number of points in the girder section ? If thats right, I do have the same number of points, because both section were created using the TYPE-IV template .
Thanks a lot.
Diego,
It seems that your only difficulty is understanding and applying the variation definition logic.

Hello Marcos
I just sent you my model file.
Thanks.
Hello Marcos, did you see my bridge file? Thanks
Hi Diego,
Yes, it was received and I created a Service Request also.
Initially, you have the last section variable inverted and you need to modify it accordingly, from the span section to the support stiffened section to finish this part.
I saw you posted other related questions, so I'll address them in those posts as well.
