When I am trying to install OpenBridge Designer CE 2021 R2, it gets stuck just below 50%. Have even gone so far as to reload the computer to try and do a clean install. It sticks...
Any ideas why?
Thanks in advance...
It may be getting hung up on many of the components OBD installs?
Have you tried recreating the layout?
Haven't done anything other click install. Nothing else was selected during installation.
The install file you download from Bentley is only 2 MB... it is not the entire program. When you run this file, it downloads and creates all of the components for OpenBridge Designer 2021-R2. I typically create a "layout" from the downloaded file. Select the Windows + R key (Run) and key-in the following: c:\temp\Setup_OpenBridgeDesigner_x64_10.10.20.34.exe /layout (substitute your path for where the downloaded file is located).
This will walk you through creating a "layout" for installing the program. You can select/set several options here.
Another thing you can do is watch as it downloads each of the component installers for the OpenBridge Designer program. There are times where one of the components will hang when creating the layout (you will be able to see/watch what it is). In this case, I just try again until the layout is completed.
Once the layout is completed (creates OpenBridge Designer folder in C:\Bentley Downloads\), you can run the OpenBridge Designer "setup" installer from here.
Hope this helps!
David,
Thank you for this info! This is great and I will use it to create a package for SCCM. But alas, it didn't solve my problem. So I created a layout with full UI. Didn't select any extra components and let it download to a local directory. After it was created, I ran the setup from the folder (OBTemp) and let it do it's thing. Unfortunately, it got stuck again at the same part. It stops and sits at the 'Installing OpenBridgeModelerCE'. Everything is downloaded so I am not sure what the problem is. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Also, looking in the Task Manager and there are like 20 Bentley CONNECTION Clients running too...
Windows 10 or Windows 11? (OBM not certified on Windows 11 yet)
20 Connection Clients running?Check to see if computer has Windows Update KB5011831 (Released 4/25/2022) installed? This is an issue I am currently investigating....See this thread: https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/f/microstation-forum/229319/what-is-going-on-with-the-connection-client-is-there-a-conflict-with-a-recent-windows10-update-or-what/709993#709993
Only solution I have seen so far is to uninstall this Windows update
