When I am trying to install OpenBridge Designer CE 2021 R2, it gets stuck just below 50%. Have even gone so far as to reload the computer to try and do a clean install. It sticks...
Any ideas why?
Thanks in advance...
It may be getting hung up on many of the components OBD installs?
Have you tried recreating the layout?
Haven't done anything other click install. Nothing else was selected during installation.
I just confirmed that Windows Security Update KB5013942 was installed on my computer yesterday (installed 2022-05-10) Windows Update KB5013624 was also installed yesterday Servicing Stack 10.0.19041.1704 was also installed yesterday Confirm that KB2565063 is not installed on my computer
I confirmed that I have only one instance of Bentley.Connect.Client.exe and Bentley.Licensing.Service.exe running on my computer. I am not currently experiencing any issues with CONNECTION Client (version 11.00.04.15, x64)
From a previous issue with CONNECTION Client (December, 2021), I can tell you that any version of CONNECTION Client after version 11.00.01.109 relies on Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime. These later versions of CONNECTION Client will install Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime on the computer (if it does not exist). Microsoft had released an incompatible version of Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime - which caused havoc with CONNECTION Client.
You want to make sure that the version of Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime and Microsoft Edge match exactly! I am currently running version 101.0.1210.39 of both programs.
As a test, you could install CONNECTION Client version 11.00.01.109 (or older) to see if your issue goes away?
We have found that removing KB5013942 has helped with our issue. We were on CONNECT Client 10.x. So I have created an 11.0.04.14 package and tried pushing that out. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it is resolving our issue... Will look at it more tomorrow.
Thanks!
Sorry I didn't get back yesterday. Spent the whole day removing that KB and updating the Connect client. Just checked one of our machines and both are on 101.0.1210.39. So webview2 isn't our issue... Even with the 11.0.04.15 client it still happens... Have you heard any more?
Thanks again for all your insight!
May be time to get Bentley Technical Support involved.
The CONNECTION Client databases may have become corrupt?C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Local\Bentley\BentleyUpdate.2.0.db and MySELECT.db
The CONNECTION Client can be "reset" and the CONNECTION Client databases can be deleted... this has helped in the past with several different CONNECTION Client related issues....
Hi David/James,
This is a known issue with the KB and connection client. A defect has already been filed with Connection Client development team. Please see:
Elevated CPU usage for the Bentley CONNECTION Client process - Licensing, Cloud and Web Services Wiki - Licensing, Cloud and Web Services - Bentley Communities
Yup, this is our issue. So we have Windows Update configured and it would install 5013942. Would then lock the computer up. Pretty bad in some cases. We have had roughly 80 computers have this issue and thanks to WU, in some cases it has happened on multiple times on the same computer. We have CONNECT client 11.00.04.15 installed and the problem continues...
Our only course of action was to disable Windows Update and remove KB5013942. Then the computers work as they should... Any ideas on when Bentley might have a fix?
Thanks for all of your help and insight!
