LEAP Steel - Running a single permit vehicle

Hello,

A client is requesting I test a bridge with the following parameters:

  • Only permit vehicle on the bridge
  • No lane load
  • No adjacent lanes loaded

Is it possible to model a LL like that in LEAP Steel?

When I define the LL, I choose my permit vehicle with no load side-by-side. However, the lane loading details report shows that multiple lanes are loaded simultaneously with the same permit vehicle.

I've thought about constraining the roadway width to where only one lane is loaded and floated by the program, and run multiple models manually floating the roadway width thus covering the whole bridge, but my model is already taking over an hour to process so I figured I could ask for some advice on this.

Thanks!

  • Vinay, thanks for your reply.

I had defined the truck as you suggested. My bridge is very wide and it can fit 7 lanes fixed when the OFFSET is not reduced. So:

    1) If I fix the lanes with and reduce the vehicle path to only have one lane, I would have to run multiple models so that I can "manually move around the one lane" along the width of the bridge

    2) If I don't reduce the vehicle path with the OFFSET entry, the program floats the lane for me. However, it places multiple trucks simultaneously even when the Side-by-side option is set to None.

It seems like there may not be a way around this.
