OTD looks a very promising first. Great to see ORD's templates approach to defining the sections along the alignment.
But, how would you model the intersections? ORD uses Civil Cells for this. Will OTD support Civil Cells in the future?
Hi Dominic,
Thank you for the interest in OpenTunnel Designer. In the current version of OTD, the workflow for defining intersections would be:
- model the tunnels
- model the cross passages as transversal tunnels
- for intersecting the solids of the tunnels and cross passages:
- manually modify the solids using the provided options in the Modeling workflow under Solids group
- either create a parametric cell that contains a perforator and place that cell at the intersection of the tunnels
In future versions, OTD will be capable of automatically intersecting the tunnel solids.

Thanks Vlad. Do you have a vid showing this procedure?
Using the Mstn solid modification tools suggests that any changes to be tunnel sections would require manual reconstruction of the intersections, which is not very efficient.
Hopefully, something more parametric like Civil Cells would be available in future?
A video demonstrating these capabilities will be uploaded in the next weeks on OpenTunnel Designer YouTube Channel
Awesome. Many thx!
