Auto-generation of wind loads.

I have a model of a pier wall on pile cap. When I auto-generate the WS loads, I find that the column loads are applied between the top of the pile cap and the ground surface; that is, underground. Strangely, the load is the correct value (as if the wind was acting on the area of the wall above the ground), but LEAP applies the line load from y/L=0 to y/L=0.2 rather than on the range y/L=[0.2, 1]. Any thoughts?

  • Hi Dilip,

Thank you for your response. Indeed, I understand the limits of y/L being the point of fixity and the top of the column. My question relates to an observation I had that when the wind loads (WS) are auto-generated, it seems like they're being applied between the point of fixity and the ground surface. That means that the winds are being applied underground. Instead, I think they should be applied from the ground surface to the top of the column. I was wondering if anyone at Bentley was familiar with this issue, and whether there was any workaround (other than manually updating each of the 36 auto-generated cases).

    Kind regards,

    Daniel
