Dear OpenBridge Modeler community,
I'm exploring the software for its functionality and ease of use for the current workflow that we, in the company, want to apply/have and I'm having issues with Long Section/Profile view that is following the Bridge alignment path (or any Feature Line). The Long Section/Profile view is perfect for creating a section that is at constant placement in regard of the bridge, which is perfect for curved Bridges.
The section cuts through attached geometry as intended but it is producing vertical lines at every Stroking Distance (as per the definition values) - these vertical lines are not something I want to show there as these do not exist in 3D model! They are also misleading, if left unattended, and may be/are mistaken for Construction Joints.
Is there a way how I can do a Long Section or Elevation that would follow the curvature of the Bridge?!..we are in 21st century so I would expect that there is a solution to this (other than masking those vertical lines)...
Many thanx in advance for any reply.
Hi Rastislav,
Although those stroking distance lines you see come from your "CIVIL_DEFAULT_LINEAR_STROKING" workspace variable, the cut graphics displayed in your Profile 3d cut is the real geometry of the sectioned object, it is just cut into a separate section cut graphic object at each interval (i am unsure why it works this way). If you test a curved or round object you will see it is accurate.
To remove the cutting of section cut graphic objects at each geometry interval (and the cut lines you see) you can change the workspace variable setting of "CIVIL_DEFAULT_LINEAR_STROKING" to something very large like 1000 and it will resolve your issue. This may cause issues if you use the same workspace to create Civil Geometry though.
Another alternative is to set the profile 3d cut reference to use a display style that shades the objects, so the cuts are not visible. To do this, go to your 3d cut reference in the dialog, double click the reference presentation value ("Wireframe" by default) and change the Display Style in here. Once you refresh your 3d cut it will be applied. It will annoyingly reset on refresh after an alignment change. etc.
Regards,
Mark
