Good afternoon,
Is there a way to model top of columns as a partially pinned connection (pinned in the transverse direction only - free to rotate about the z axis, but fixed about the x and y axis)?
I am aware that an option exists to model the bent cap as continuous beam resting on knife edge supports, but do not see an option to design the columns for moment and shear.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Danny
Danny, design of the cap as a continuous beam does not apply to column design. This is the reason for which design of columns is not available for cap as a continuous beam option. For column design, the bridge structure will always allow the top of columns to translate and rotate about all 3 orthogonal axes.
Yes, that is understood but does LeapBridge have the option to specify a partially pinned connection (pinned in the transverse direction only - free to rotate about the z axis, but fixed about the x and y axis)?
Danny, such option is not available for the reason I did explain earlier: bridge superstructure will allow top of columns to translate and rotate about all 3 orthogonal axes.
