Hi,
When trying to calculate the Moment capacity at Locations closer to the support region e.g.@H/2. How the area of prestressing strands are getting calculated, is this based on development length and effective prestressing force?. It is easy to understand that at mid section, Area of prestressing strands = (no.of.strands) x strand area.
Thank you.
Hi Pradeepa,
The program is considering the development length while calculating the Aps value when moment capacity calculation is performed. The program calculates the Aps value after accounting for the development length. You may consider Aps as effective tendons. If it is not fully developed, the effective Aps will be less than actually provided Aps, and effective Aps is based on the linear interpolation.
Thats the reason the Aps value reduces at the end of the girder as the tendons are not fully developed.
I hope it helps.
Thanks,
Vinay
