CT Loads on Footings

Hi, I am trying to figure out if there is a way to apply CT loads on footings. We are putting a new barrier on top of an existing footing. The loads will only be applied to the barrier and footing, not columns. The CT loads input does not allow application of such loads directly to the footing.

I am trying a workaround where I input such loads as a different type (EV) then manually adjust the load combinations. However, I am running into an issue where I can't change the load type and direction in the input (the options are grayed out). I am now looking for a workaround to my workaround.

I could also try importing loads from a text file, but I don't think I am typing the commands correctly (see below). Help is appreciated!

I am using Substructure Design/Analysis from LEAP Bridge Steel in OpenBridge Designer 2021 Release 2 version 10.10.20.34

  • Hi Rudy,

To import loads from a text file you have to have an entry for every line and every bearing even if the load is zero.

    Bearing loads

    1,            1,            x,            1

    1,            2,            Y,            -2

    1,            3,            z,             0

    2,            1,            x,            4

    2,            2,            Y,            -5

    2,            3,            z,             0

    1,            1,            x,            0

    1,            2,            Y,            -8

    1,            3,            z,             +9

    2,            1,            x,            0

    2,            2,            Y,            -11

    2,            3,            z,             +12

I shall email you the text file format which will help you to import the values.
